Home Stereo Speakers

Home stereo speakers are an important part of your stereo setup; a stereo is worthless without good speakers. Home stereo speakers are voiced to make your music sound good. This usually means the mids are scooped quite a bit in a stereo system vs a studio monitoring system, but not always. Studio monitors are designed to make your mixes sound better than standard speaker systems.
Home stereo speakers are generally 8 ohm, so a resistor in series would require more power, which depending on the size of the resistor, the amplifier would ultimately be unable to deliver a lot of sound. Home stereo speakers are factory equalised to add a little extra bottom end for perceived warmth and often increases to highs as this is where our hearing often starts to decay. Home stereo speakers are designed to reproduce all frequencies from around 60hz (giver or take 20 or so) to 16-20khz just like pa speakers.
If your listening speakers for monitoring musical instruments are going to be more home stereo/theater listening distance. Then again you may well find that monitors other then near field are more enjoyable. Home stereo speakers are designed to add “color” to a mix either bass of treble, or both depending on the makers view of things, but anyway the point is that monitors are design to give a flat response.
Home stereo speakers are designed (ultimately) to have the “flattest” possible frequency response. Home stereo speakers are not manufactured to handle these harsh conditions. The structure of the cabinets and the drivers in home speakers will deteriorate quickly and the sounds will be lost with the moisture right out your vent. Hooking up these speakers will require a little bit of thought and planning to achieve the right locations for the components.
